Lewis Oscar Moon, 65, of La Plata, Maryland, died May 25, 2009 of heart failure<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Born Dec. 18, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of Agnes Moon of Cincinnati and the late Edwin Moon.<\/p>\n

He moved to Charles County with his family in 1988. A psychotherapist with a master’s degree in social work from Ohio State University, he worked for the Charles County Department of Social Services, Vesta Inc. and Civista Medical Center.<\/p>\n

Most recently, he shared a private practice in La Plata with his wife at Acton Counseling Associates. Friends and family will remember him as a patient and caring husband, father and grandfather.<\/p>\n

He enjoyed reading, boating, laughing heartily, spending time with friends and family and watching his granddaughters play. He sought to make a difference in the world each day by helping others in even the smallest ways.<\/p>\n

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Roy Moon.<\/p>\n

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sharon; sons, Brendan and his wife, Jackie and their daughters, Annabelle and Emily of White Plains and Jeremy and his partner, Bryan Legaspi of Washington, D.C.; siblings, Tom and Cathy Moon of Cincinnati, Sam Moon and Kathy Taylor of Cincinnati and Susan and David Hyde of Yellow Springs, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n

A Celebration of Life<\/a> service was held at 5 p.m. May 31 2009 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Piney Parish, Waldorf. The Revs. Joy Rose and Sandra S.W. Taylor officiated. A reception followed.<\/p>\n
